The summer capital of Jammu &
Kashmir, Srinagar is the jewel that shines in the whole
of North India with its sparkling lakes. Scenic snow
capped mountain peaks form the backdrop and flowers
picturesquely adorn the gardens. A treasure trove of
beauty legendary for its houseboats, Srinagar is also
renowned for its traditional handicrafts and dry fruits.

| Dal Lake |
|
The Dal Lake is Srinagar's
largest lake, which has the maximum number of house-boats.

| Nagin Lake |
|
The beautiful Nagin Lake is located in
Srinagar. Fed by springs, attractive house-boats are moored
alongside. Shikaras (small boats) criss-cross the lakes presenting
a unique picture. Most house-boats are situated on the banks
of the lake.

| Jhelum Lake |
|
The beautiful Jhelum Lake is located in
Srinagar. House-boats in the Jhelum lake are largely economy
class. They are situated on the banks of the lake, and accessed
directly from land.

| Cheshmashahi
Garden |
|
Cheshmashahi Garden is smallest among Srinagar's
Mughal gardens built at a height above the city. It has only
three terraces in addition to a natural spring of water enclosed
in a stone pavilion.

| Shalimar Bagh |
|
The third Mughal garden, the Shalimar-
was planted by Jahangir, the Mughal emperor, whose love for
Kashmir was legendary. Shaded by magnificient chinar trees,
the Shalimar is a series of stone pavillions and flowing water
with paint-box bright flower beds.

| Nishat Bagh |
|
The Nishat garden encircles the Dal lake.
It was built by empress Nur Jahan's brother Asaf Khan. The
largest of the gardens, Nishat has several terraces, a central
water course and a majestic site between the Dal and the Zabarwan
hills.

Padshahi Gurudwara |
|
Chatti Padshahi Gurudwara is located near
the Kathi Darwaza in Rainawari, Srinagar. The sixth sikh Guru
travelled through Kashmir to preach Sikhism. This gurudwara
has been built to pay tribute to the holy pilgrimage of the
Guru.

bank of the famous Dal lake houses the Moi-e-Muqqadas, that

Shankarcharya Temple is located at 1100
ft above the surface level of the main city on the Shankaracharya
hill, also known as Takht-e-Suleiman. The temple commands
a magnificient panoramic view of the Srinagar city.

The Shrine of Khan Saheb is situated on
khan saheb block of Srinagar. It is associated with the famous
saint Hazrat Saleh Khan, who meditated inside a cave for 12
years and stayed in Srinagar.

of Alamdar-e-Kashmir |
|
The tomb of Alamdar-e-Kashmir is situated
28 Kms in southwest of Srinagar at Chrar-e- Sharif in Budgam
District. The shrine on the burial site was constructed by
the then ruler of Kashmir Zain ul Abideen.
